A vision to ‘Destroy the Machines’ was to mix organic and mechanical forms to create a fused compound in constant evolution and motion. Structure vs Growth. A hand inked background was scanned and added to offer a movement to the illustration framework as we near our minds toward the atomic frame and realise the infinite.
The contrast and conflict is that it lacks a certain aggression in making a statement and thorough intention.
Although a machine was used to execute the design, it is more a visual that represents energetic organic ascension as opposed to digital devolution.

Recent Illustration. After studying some personal written and documented examinations of Japanese woodblock printing and calligraphy, it was about time to get busy with a mix of Traditional & Digital work. The aim of the project was to create a smooth digital illustration incorporating the Edo period theme, a bold image, with a hand textured background using inks. Finished off with individual scales to offer some dimension and depth to bring the image to life.

A type treatment and effect experiment. The central smashed effect and small background shards were all made of separate vector elements. The Smashed edges are a reworked graphic from the internet which was altered to move it away from the original. The type was slightly re-weighted with various layers / overlays to create the finished graphic.
