A big hello to the KDU from Bristol in the UK!

My name is Tom Lane, more commonly known as Ginger Monkey. I’m a new addition to the mighty ranks of the KDU.

I specialise in illustration, lettering, and design with a heavy tip toward craft based and highly intricate work.

It’s a pleasure and an honour to be a member of the society. I’m looking forward to hopefully collaborating
with some of you in the future.

I’ve posted below a few pieces of my work and some development. I hope you enjoy it.

If you’d like to see more, please head on over to www.gingermonkeydesign.com and have a look through
my portfolio. Our give me a shout at tom@gingermonkeydesign.com

Hello everyone!

So it has been quite a while since I last updated my blog which isn’t that good, but on the upside I have a few projects to share!

This painting here is my first project of 2012 , purely experimental, trying to learn different styles of painting & techniques inspired by two of my favourite artists Danny LuVisi & Reid Southen. I hope you enjoy.

This here is a wallpaper I created for Desktopography 2011. Check out the exhibit here | Download all sizes here

Revenge Is Beautiful

These next two projects were created for Evoke One’s 26th exhibit “Evoke III“. I had a lot of fun creating both projects.

So that’s pretty much all for now, but a lot of new work on the way so keep your eyes pealed! Thanks for viewing!

The mini-film follows the main character, let’s call him “The Creator”, through is travels in New York. Throughout, he plays with various light fixtures that ultimately turns into some colorful, acid version of the human form, centering on the heart. Is the light man to protect him from getting his heartbroken, as the lyrics seem to suggest? Is it a statement on living in NYC? Who knows. Either way, it’s visually stunning and a reminder of how awesome LCD Soundsystem was/is.”

Photography / Logo / Beacon.

Recently hooked up for an old school style freehand cut from Andrew the Barber over at Eminence.

The man impressed me. He studied Architecture before finally settling back into his full time passion as his artistic craft.

This is a poster i’ve done thinking about the role of gaming
into everyday rituals of modern young men and women from nowadays.

I’ve been always playing with one console or another since i have memory,
and i realized how much this became a part of our daily routine, and i guess i wanted
to get around that subject in a fun way.
