My name is Stephen Holding and I am a Brooklyn-based painter and designer. I have spent the past few years between Hong Kong ( where I was recruited by Nike as a Graphic Designer ) and Brooklyn where I am currently balancing my time between creative direction at KDU HQ, designing, painting and curating my exhibition space SECTION 440. My work can be seen as the process of cracking the surface of the physical world and exposing the light, energy and possibilities hidden underneath.

Before I begin a new body of work in 2013, it seemed only fitting to update my painting website Stephenholding.com with my most recent works. Also, please check out my Big Cartel store , where you will find the above collaboration between myself and Marion Bolognesi available for the first time as a limited-edition 18″ x 24″ print.

Peace!

BROOKLYN ARMY

If you are in the NYC area the weekend of September 8th please visit me as I open my painting studio to the public. Sponsored by The Brooklyn Museum, the Go Brooklyn open studio project is the largest of its kind to date, including nearly 1100 artists currently working in Brooklyn.

My studio, operated by Chashama, is located in the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal. This building is normally closed to the public, and this is a unique opportunity to see what happens within its walls.

More info and a sneak peek of the space here.

Facebook event invite here.

Peace!

KDUnit

Hello Keystone Design Union!

First and foremost I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the man David Gensler for putting me down with the KDU. I’ve been a huge fan ever since the days of The Royal, and dude is a straight up strategic genius. I’m looking forward to continuing to blaze the trail that he and the thousands of talented individuals that make up The KDU have set before the world, and to continue to reshape the landscape of creativity and inspiration that unites us.

And a special thank you to the one and only Cat King for capturing the pic!

Peace and Respect!
