Piece for upcoming book --

After Fiddling for a lot of time with the idea of using a tablet for my work and a few failed attempts at it from the past, i decided to do an entire piece using the tablet and Photoshop. I decided to go full on with it for this piece and actually start with something more challenging than a simple character so i just tried to go as far as i could with it and learn while doing it. The result is this piece i made for an upcoming book featuring my character doctor een, i hope you like the results!

BUTCHERS OF BOURGEOIS - Pen, Pencil & Ink sketch time lapse. 1 minute 7 seconds – 676 frames.

Tatto flash inspired image that was specific for my first time lapse project set at 10 sec intervals.

Used here is a small wooden mock up frame for my camera/cell set at the perfect angle to get the close up shots.

Hope you enjoy the visuals here. Check out the short feature on the Toob.

Type.Face / Illustration / Colour print

Portrait & mixed Type. A project that is a personal challenge and one that will be ongoing as a small series.

I am interested in pulling away from the digital aesthetic with these prints and using analog as the main tool and last source to bring the image to life.

Mixed Message images…

Until the unscheduled relaunch of alternatyves.com happen, a daily image from current or past projects, doodles, sketches, works in process will be published on the archyves / virtual stake blog.

Why random?

- 1 Made, done, happening, or chosen without method or conscious decision.

- 2 Another explanation is working in different fields of practice spanning illustration, graphic design, concept art and film pre production; that diversity does not easily fit into a single, consistent portfolio.

- 3 Cleaning the place for a new beginning.

Type.Face / Illustration / Colour print

Portrait & mixed Type is the outline for this project, in a layout that worked well as a composition of colour / content.

A project that is a personal challenge and one that will be ongoing as a small series.

Without giving away to much detail of the specific background to the series, it is to have a bolder message as the overall theme.

The above image was a case study that started in digital and progressed to be more analog in practice with the result being a very good healthy balance of the two combined.

My contribution to Gallery 1988’s Tribute to Bill Murray. Which is set to open November 4th in LA (7020 Melrose Ave to be specific). The piece is going to be screen printed with 3 colors on thick textured paper. The concept is about showing Bill’s characters throughout the last 30 or so years and how both he and his characters have evolved over the years.

In other news, I’ve recently left my full-time gig at Go Media (on good terms of course), to pursue freelancing. So if anyone needs my expertise for any reason, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me. I’ve had a pretty wide range of projects. Check out some shots from them (some are in progress):

This is the beginning of a new body of work that depicts a slight sense of motion and disorientation. More to come from that in the future.

This is my very first post here at The KDU!  I’m excited and a bit frantic at the moment with finals at school and trying to cover ground online with everything that is going on day to day.

Currently I’m working on some new projects with Intrinsic Nature (http://www.intrinsicnature.org) for their next release.  Several new collabs, including one with an artist locally that I have met that has extremely raw talent.  I look forward to continue posting here for now I will leave you all with an image.

This image was created for an online release at Evokeone.  It was based on a gestural sketch I had made from  class.

My contribution to the Quentin vs. Coen show next week in NYC. If you’re in the area, you should come check out the show. It’s a show based on characters from the films of the Coen Brothers and Quentin Tarantino. I chose to do a piece on Jules Winnfield from Pulp Fiction. Say ‘what’ again. This is a very limited print run, and will probably sell out at the show. I may have an extra 15 or so of my own that I’ll put up for sale after the show’s over.

VOTE for Minga in WMC

Here’s the skinny – i need your help and the best part is it’s super easy! All i need you to do to show support is click the image above or goto this link -  click me – and just click “vote” on the image above or the one titled Mingadigm (that’s me?!) to vote for my inclusion in this exhibition described below! super simple, it helps the process if while you’re voting you are currently logged out of facebook, doesn’t like that for some reason. 1 click is fantastic, but in order to win it’s all about the numbers; so if you’d be so kind as to click “vote” once a day everyday until voting closes,  you’d be completely awesome. thanks for the help. regards minga

event details – -

Become one of the 20 Designers featured in the design gallery at Weapons of Mass Creation Fest 2011. Hundreds are considered for this opportunity and you will receive great exposure for your work. It will be seen by hundreds of people (pretty influential people I might add) throughout the festival and the following week.

Talk about getting your name out there and rubbing shoulders with some of the best! Not only will you earn a spot in the gallery, but your name/link will be featured on wmcfest.com and on all print materials!

UK rock band, To Catch a Thief, approached me about working with them on their new album packaging. They simply provided me with the title and I ran with it and came up with an art direction based on vintage horror films. This is just the cover, the rest of the layout is still in production. More to come later.
