In 1988 when I was starting out in calligraphy I did this quotation. I had done this in calligraphy but never completed it, so here is my latest rendition of the quote. This features my latest script, “Rotunda Love Typeface”. The lettering is very clear and easy to read. This typeface was used on choir music sheets in very large letters so that everyone in the choir could read the words. Typically the upper case letters (which were not quite invented yet) were done in a uncial versal (not shown).
This piece showcases my newest addition to my typeface collection called just simply “Italics”. This is a free flowing italic typeface that is based on inspiration from various calligraphers, most notably Luca Barcellona. This elegant lettering style is a departure from my gothic scripts, but works well in this case against the gothic uncial script. A calligraphy I have been learning from explained to me that layout is more important than the actual characters themselves and I am gaining an appreciation of this quickly.
The quote is actually from myself. Lately I have been invested in learning and improving my calligraphy skills, but while doing so I have found it to be a completely relaxing experience — one that is truly good for the soul.
This typeface is over 125 high resolution bitmap lowercase characters that work well together and are complimented from the contemporary capitals that I created a month or so ago. Several variations of each letter have been prepared. This typeface is suitable for high resolution printing.
If you are interested in any of these typefaces or would like to develop a font let me know. I will be rolling out a few more typefaces over the next few weeks.

Some Personal work celebrating the Record Store Day 2012.
Basically it’s a mesh up of some of my favorite artist and who’s music I find to be relevant in the History of music so here there are…
Hope you enjoy.
This piece is actually a test of combining my gothic textura tall and narrow typeface with my new Canterbury Uncial typeface. I think they look pretty cool together. They compliment each other quite well. Differences in size, spacing and texture also work well. The long decender on the uncial Rs play well together and magically worked out that way. The uncial letters are evenly spaced a bit wider than normal to give it a more formal look. The diamonds are used to fill the empty space in the M, O, P, and T characters. Layout design, spacing and balance are so critical in calligraphy yet unfortunately often overlooked. All of this is was done by eye with help of a few guide lines.
This is an example where old-school authentic hand done calligraphy can be applied to modern movies, music, video games and other products. I like the overall look of this piece. I liked the first Resident Evil film. Never played any of the video games but imagine they look great too. This would look amazing on the back of a T-shirt, or side of a wall. Cheers Steve

This year again, I was commissioned by the French Consulate in Wuhan to design the “FETE DE LA MUSIQUE” poster.
On the 21rst & 22nd of June, Wuhan, China.
My first idea was to have that massive golden bling, a hiphop cliché in the West, which is also worn by some Chinese sketchy guys.
Both Precious and show-off.
It s the first title I design mixing latin-letters with chinese-characters. Once in a while it’s cool to use colors also.
