After several years in hibernation, The KDU is finally relaunching its SVSV fashion line to the general market.

The full collection, web store and physical Brooklyn boutique will launch in May.

To celebrate the upcoming launch, we have decided to release a special collaboration between SVSV and KDU founder, David Gensler and LA based KDU member, Victor Antonio.

“Traveling the world over the past two years inspired me to relaunch the brand. Seeing Victor’s work inspired me to begin shooting my own photography again and be more involved in the day to day process of art and writing. I founded the KDU with my own designs and art and it is time to return, bringing back my own vision.” – David Gensler

Victor and I collaborated for some time playing with various critical theories, philosophies, poetry and prose that we found represented the DNA of what we wanted to convey in this new collection and body of work.

“The entire SVSV brand has always been more about art than fashion and I think this reaffirms that.” – David Gensler

We’re all really excited over here in the UK. The Royal Wedding is happening as I type and everyone is going crazy for all things royal and British, which brings us to this post. A friend of ours has recently painted a huge mural dedicated to Kate Middleton.

Here are the facts, Stika is from Brighton, a nice place by the sea and as most of you will know the graffiti capital of the UK. He later moved to London 8 years ago to study at the famous Central St Martins. After graduating in design, Stika has worked commercially for brands like Reebok, Edding, Converse, Google and many more.

Specializing in large scale freehand typography, Stika decided to put together something special for the Royal wedding.

“This particular mural was in response to the negative press around the upcoming Royal wedding on the 29th April. Channel 4 are airing a documentary called “Meet the Middletons”, exposing the working class family roots behind the future Queen of England. This mural sends out a strong message to Kate that despite some unfavorable publicity, the general public supports her as the new people’s princess…”

Ltd Edition prints can be purchased exclusively from the website

INVASIONISM is a theory of the dual effect the act of creation has on both the audience and the creator. The act of artistic creation acutely impacts an audience, both intended and secondary, often challenging conventions and rewriting social mores and memes (or sometimes validating them).

As artistic creation impacts the world, the world’s reaction to it, equally impacts the artist/designer. Ultimately, Invasionism is an exchange of energy that knowingly and unknowingly “INVADES” both creator and audience alike.

“As I attempt to change or influence the world through my designs and ideas, ultimately the world truly changes me.”

This is my very first post here at The KDU!  I’m excited and a bit frantic at the moment with finals at school and trying to cover ground online with everything that is going on day to day.

Currently I’m working on some new projects with Intrinsic Nature (http://www.intrinsicnature.org) for their next release.  Several new collabs, including one with an artist locally that I have met that has extremely raw talent.  I look forward to continue posting here for now I will leave you all with an image.

Form 1

This image was created for an online release at Evokeone.  It was based on a gestural sketch I had made from  class.
