SWEET, got around to getting some product shots done! i have have to say that when the client gets the proper quality printing done for the the way the art was intended, that maybe my favorite part – quality printing for quality art, seems to make so much sense! HAH

previous post – Album art, layout and tees for the band Before Tomorrow.  super happy with with this project and the band loves it too. complete creative license drawn from their music, is the force behind this one. attend the album release party and they killed it. thanks.

In the film Glengarry Glenn Ross, the character of Blake, played by Alec Baldwin, utters an oft-quoted line following the famous ’steak knives’ scene: “A-B-C. A-Always, B-Be, C-Closing. Always be closing, always be closing.” In the context of the film, Blake repeats this mantra so as to burn it into the minds of his underperforming sales force, reminding them that their failure to sell condos and time shares will only result in termination. It’s not so much a morale booster as it is a warning to those lacking the killer instinct required in sales. But on a grander scale, Blake is talking about selling — no matter the product, no matter the price.

I was reminded of this scene while watching a new ad campaign for Coke’s energy drink, called Burn (see video after the jump). It’s a dilemma I think about often, the fact that so much of today’s creative output is subsidized by corporate dollars, and the blurry ethical line this infusion of cash can create among those tasked to produce the work — art directors, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, animators, etc.

Currently showing at Joshua Liner Gallery is New York based artist Travis Louie.

Before painting his cast of characters and monsters their life story comes first such as with his painting The Toad Prince:

Photobucket

After years of approaching young women with the promise that a kiss would turn him into a prince, he finally convinced a young lady with strange hair to kiss him on his moist lips. Unfortunately, she was afflicted with the “bad hair” and the toad merely turned into a larger human-size toad. He became much smellier and developed a taste for single malt scotch and sausages. His dreams to be a prince dashed, he became a criminal lawyer, croaking his way through court room trials for the next 40 years.

These are not digital works, nor are the drawings but rather meticulously painted, flawless acrylic works.

‘Curious Myths’ is on view at Joshua Liner Gallery through August 7th.

My exercise kick went south. Last night I ate 58 sliders and drank 14 strawberry shakes. Weighed in at 383 lbs. I will wrestle a gator if I could just find a damn gator in Brooklyn!!

I cannot possibly extend a more sincere congratulations to my good friend Mike Ventura and his entire team at Sub Rosa. They have just been honored by Ad Age – being named the Best Small Agency of the year.
Mike and his team have helped the entire KDU by launching our current global site – both consulting and network. They brought us in to collaborate on Diesel’s
Only The Brave launch in New York and Miami – working with some 50 KDU core members from around the world to produce a unique launch experience.
I look forward to seeing Mike and his team continue to grow and amaze us with more and more interesting projects.
