I do love Paris, even when it is freezing. The architecture and history, mixed with the overwhelming sensibility of modern design and style is constantly inspiring.
We needed to stop in for an end of year meeting with our friends, Nick, Patrick and Camille at Hennessy then spend a few days exploring the city with our friends
Jennifer and Liam from Amsterdam ( Denham the Jeanmaker). We have taken thousands of pictures on this trip… most of which will be posted when we return to states.

Special thanks to KDU member, Chrissy Angliker for giving us a first class tour of Zurich.
Zurich is a small city situated on a river that empties into a large lake. The terrain is hilly, with stone streets climbing to higher vantage points, overlooking the entire city.
In every place I go, I attempt to find local crafts. On this visit to Zurich, I found ducks, hand crafted from Bamboo roots and locally carved wood.

We spent a cold, rainy, windy rain in Vienna. We stayed at the Grand Hotel on the city Ring. The hotel occupies a landmark piece of architecture which was breathtaking.
We are happy to welcome Vienna native David Mascha to the KDU. David was introduced to us by KDU core member Justin Maller from Australia. David was kind enough to give us a walking tour on Christmas day in the pouring rain.

Some advance shots of our time in Budapest. We stayed right in front of the chain bridge on the Pest side of the city. The architecture sets an ancient tone along the Danube river.
Stay tuned and upon return to states, we will launch the full report of our travels to Asia and Europe – David Gensler

Stefan LucutFree prints giveaway
Yep this is what you think it is. Two years ago I’ve done something similar with 13 artworks, giving away the print sources on high rez. Now I just want to give away 3 of my latest works. Lately I got 2 great collaborations, one is the “Obama facing the colors” done with my young friend from Germany – Magomed Dovjenko and the second is about “Marché de Noël” done with my old good friend Radu Popescu. But I’ve said I got 3 prints to give away, so yeah you probably already guess, is about “Khs“.

When you work just for fun or you have some rejected works that you feel they are top, your work remain just on your computer then you got a bad feeling that something is unfinished, something is missing. So I print them and they came up to live, and you got a nice feeling. So I thought I should expand this great feeling in a very easy way. To give them free for all who wants and expand the happiness that this pieces will never die on the internet or on my computer. I think this should be a good way for every designer who feels like this.

Find how you can get them here!!

Hello Everyone. Over the month of December and well into January, I will be traveling the world to meet with clients, KDU members and friends, as well as gathering research and inspiration for the coming year. The first part of the trip took place in early December. I traveled with my partners Chris Bevans and Aerosyn Lex to Guangzhou China, Hong Kong and
finally Tokyo, Japan. I then headed to Europe with designer Portia Wells to visit a dozen cities, starting with Amsterdam and ending in Iceland. Stay tuned for photos and notes from our travels.

Peace and I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

Trend Report: New Retail: Precinct 5
Extra thanks to Mr. Wix for the personal tour of Precinct 5 in Amsterdam.
This new store is a beautiful, taking space in an old Police station. The space is designed with modular furniture and fixtures, allowing for constant change.
They are carrying brands like Norse Projects, Stussy, Nike, Gourmet and many others.  They just launched a special collaboration between them and our friends at Denham.
Overall,
More to come very soon.

The anatomy and physiology of vision is still being researched but the current understanding of vision is of an assembled sense collated by the visual cortex (V1-V6), collating color, movement, form and depth. Before Descartes, debates occurred whether the eyes emitted or just received light. One belief was that the eyes projected beams of light that illuminated what the person was then able to see.

The title of the exhibition was used to interrogate the terms, “Seeing is Believing” and “I can’t believe my eyes” and the essential issue of visual truth. In the age of manipulated digital information, Photoshop, and CGI, we view the term photodocumentation with valid skepticism and as a potential oxymoron.

This exhibition examines a type of non event: the perception of light in the absence of any light entering the eye, termed a phosphene: an entoptic (within the eye) phenomenon caused by mechanical, electrical, pharmacologic, pathologic, or magnetic stimulation of the retina, visual cortex, or cells in the visual system. (The aural analog to this is tinnitus, the perception of a near constant ringing sound in the ears in the absence of external sound.) It has also been termed “prisoner’s cinema.” The exhibition includes works that creatively interprets these issues on literal, metaphorical, and lyrical levels through paintings, drawings, videos, sculpture, and photo-based works.
